A downloadable game for Windows

Explosive Transmission is a game I made entirely by myself in Game Maker Studio 1.4 as an entry to the Global Game Jam 2018 (aka GGJ18), which is an annual event to make games in just 48 hours.

DESCRIPTION:

In "Explosive Transmission", you have to drive a car around to collect the gears that are scattered throughout the world on three different levels, but there are hostile helicopters around which "transmit" explosive artillery such as missiles and bombs in their attempt to hinder (you), the player, to collect all the gears. What's more, is that the more gears you've collected in a level, the faster the car becomes.

You must also make sure that you don't run out of fuel, which can be avoided by collecting fuel refill cans, also scattered throughout the world.

Finally, be on lookout for the "lightning powerup"; collecting this makes your car go twice as fast as normal for a short while.

Controls:

LEFT, RIGHT, UP, DOWN = Move the car around in the corresponding direction.

SPACEBAR, ENTER = Confirm.

ESCAPE = Go back to menu, or quit game.

LEFT MOUSE BUTTON = Choose what to do whilst on the main menu.

Explosive Transmission-1.0.1.0.exe 6 MB

Install instructions

To download and play:
1: Download the .zip file.

2: Open the .zip file.

3: Right-click anywhere in the whitespace below the file in that window and select the bottom-most options, something like "Extract".

4: Select where to extract the contents of the .zip, or just press ENTER to unzip it next to the .zip file in the directory the .zip file resides in.

5: A new window appears; double-click on the file to start playing.

ADDITIONAL:

You may get a message from Windows SmartScreen which states that the game has been blocked for security reasons with seemingly no way to start the game. To circumvent it, there is a clickable part on the left side of the message reading something like "More info". Click on that, and an option to run the game should appear alongside with the "Close" button.

You may also get a warning from your antivirus software, at least that happened with me, using Norton Security. In this case, press on the button that signifies "Allow" or similar.

The aforementioned issues are likely to occur due to the way the game is packed, into a single .exe-file rather than using a Windows NSIS installer.

I do apologize if you're having problems running the game, but the reason to why the game is seemingly or temporarily blocked, is mainly to protect your Windows system from becoming infected with viruses and other malware, so seeing these messages is a good sign for your system security. :-)
